Also worth nothing:
Under §46.02, there are no restrictions on a minor carrying a blade under 5.5 inches in Texas.
That means under Texas law, Karmelo Anthony (who was 17 at the time) was not prohibited from carrying that knife. It wasn’t illegal for him to have it at all, but was it illegal to have on school premises.
Also on cross-examination, per WFAA’s live updates from the courtroom, defense attorney Mike Howard confirmed with school resource officer Jacob Schalz that the knife recovered from the scene is a multitool.
The prosecution introduced it as the murder weapon. The defense established it’s a multitool. This is extremely important when the state is arguing intent.
Let’s talk about the knife for a second.
Per Texas Penal Code §46.01, a “location-restricted knife” is defined as a knife with a blade over five and one-half inches. That is the threshold for a prohibited weapon at a school-sanctioned event under Texas law.
The blade recovered in this case was 3.5 inches. It is also a multitool, confirmed on cross-examination by defense attorney Mike Howard per WFAA’s live courtroom updates.
So here’s the question: was that knife even illegal to have there?

@0JacktheReaper@WilliamT4479@bAnthonYsr So it says he was suspended around February for bringing a knife to school. Stabbing happened in April. This doesn’t necessarily say he was still on suspension for what happened in February. Also, any student can go to a school’s track meet even if they’re suspended.
@TMZ Yup, he’s going to jail. Doesn’t matter that Austin antagonized Karmelo and was the initial aggressor, they’ll look at this footage & immediately forget all the facts of the case
@Tristin11229170@CameronVanTil@Lj_era8 True. Lamar will reach 25k & 7k before Allen does & 30k & 10k before Allen does. Possibly 35k & 10k before Allen does as well 🤷🏿♂️

For months people acted as if Karmelo Anthony was unquestionably the aggressor.
Now the video appears to show Austin Metcalf initiating the confrontation, and witness statements reportedly corroborate that sequence of events.
Self-defense isn't a legal obligation to stand there and hope the other person stops. The law focuses on perceived imminent danger, not whether someone waited until after they were injured.
The more evidence comes out, the less the original narrative holds up. @realAFLF@B1TuckerCarlson@NextGenAction@MrDennisByron@bAnthonYsr@queenie4rmnola@openmymind5
