Nigeria isn’t just an oil country, it’s a gas giant too.
Nigeria is sitting on over 100 trillion cubic feet of proven gas reserves.
The next oil boom might actually be a gas boom.
Local refining is a BIG win for Nigeria, but let’s kill the myth that it automatically means cheap fuel.
Refineries still buy crude in FX, global oil prices still move, and getting fuel from refinery → depot → station isn’t free (storage, trucking, depot fees, etc).
Dangote refining locally reduces imports, YES, but pump prices are still driven by economics, not magic.
Energy is local. Pricing is global.
I recently transitioned into oil & gas, and the learning curve has been fast-paced, but exciting. I’ll be sharing what I’m picking up along the way, mostly on the downstream side (that’s my playground). I learn faster by sharing and debating ideas, so expect insights, questions, and everything in between. Fingers crossed.🤞
