everyone talks about keyword research for Google Ads.
nobody shows DTC brands how to do it differently than a local plumber.
here's the exact process we use for 7-9 figure ecom brands. (it's not the same as what every guru has said before):
competitor campaigns PRINT money right now
why?
people are ALREADY in decision stage.
Save this 3-step framework:
1. List 3-5 biggest competitors (use Auction Insights in Google)
2. Create campaigns targeting:
"[Competitor] alternative"
"Best alternative to [Competitor]"
"[Your Brand] vs [Competitor]"
3. Build comparison landing pages (all 3-5 competitors side-by-side)
(PSA: This won't land with a shit offer)
Stuck at $20-$30k monthly spend on Google?
I know exactly why without looking at your account.
Your product titles look like they were written by a kid.
"Blue Cotton T-shirt" doesn't trigger buying intent.
It doesn't tell me anything about your product.
I already knew it was a blue t-shirt.
I could see it in your product image.
You've wasted your title and wasted my time reading it.
Benefit-driven titles are your gateway to a blue ocean worth of search traffic.
And it's the only way to differentiate yourself on Shopping.
Had one client who went from $18 → $45K monthly spend with title optimization alone.
Zero other changes.
Here's the framework:
Start by actually listening to your customers.
Understand:
- what they love about your product
- what they don't
- why they think you're better than others they tried before.
Because there's a reason they bought, maybe it's:
- the fit
- the material
- the price
- the reviews
Inject this trigger factor into your shopping title.
Here's an example:
"Men's Athletic Shorts - Blue"
❌ too short
❌ doesn't differentiate
❌ gives us no reason to click
➡️ "Lightweight Quick-Dry Athletic Shorts for Running - 7 Inch Inseam - Moisture Wicking for a Fresh Feel"
Captures people looking for:
✅ running shorts
✅ 7-inch inseam
✅ quick-dry
✅ moisture-wicking
Don't overthink it.
Start by changing a few titles first.
Try products that perform well on your store but have been dormant on Google.
That way you've got nothing to lose.
Because if you want to acquire new customers on Google.
And stop just harvesting existing demand.
Then you need to stop selling products with your titles.
And start selling benefits.
