Eighty years ago, the @UN was founded on a simple conviction: that cooperation is stronger than conflict.

Today, that conviction is being tested, by wars that do not end, by institutions that do not deliver, by a multilateral system that was built for a world that no longer exists.

I am running for Secretary-General of the United Nations because I believe this institution can be what it was always meant to be. Not a talking forum. Not a bureaucracy. A genuine force for peace, justice, and human dignity.

I have spent thirty years working inside and alongside this system: as Foreign Minister, as Defense Minister, as Ambassador in New York and Geneva, and as President of the General Assembly. I know what it is. I know what it must become.

I am grateful to @antiguagov and Prime Minister Gaston Browne for putting forward my candidacy. And I am grateful to the many people around the world who have been part of this journey.

The United Nations does not need a manager. It needs transformation, grounded in democratic legitimacy, driven by the needs of the many, and built on the courage to change.
