Over stikstof blijf ik me verbazen.

Who Should You Trust When Experts Disagree?

When experts clash, don’t just ask who sounds right. Ask who has the most to lose by speaking up. That question changes everything.

‘Wetenschap is nooit definitief.’

[Coco Riga @coco_riga]

THE PROFESSOR WHO DESTROYED THE THEORY OF EVOLUTION.

[Camus @newstart_2024]

This 47-second clip lays out the oldest trick in the book for gaining power — and it still works perfectly today:

“Create the crisis, then ride in as the savior.”

The man explains the playbook:

Pay criminals to terrorize a city (kill cows, burn barns, smash windows, set fires).

People panic and beg for protection.

The prince eliminates the very threats he funded — and everyone hails him as the hero.

“You go around the back of the house and set it on fire. Then you go around the front and sell them a fire extinguisher — and they’ll pay anything for it… and thank you.”

He calls it pure Machiavellianism: manufacture or exploit chaos to justify control.

In a world full of manufactured crises and saviors, how many times do you think we’ve seen this exact pattern play out in real life?

[Camus @newstart_2024]

Alan Savory calls out modern “science” in brutal terms: “People come out of universities braindead… thinking science means peer-reviewed papers.”

In this 1:34 clip he argues:

Peer review often means “everybody already thought the same, so they approved it.”
Real breakthroughs almost never come from the center of a profession — they come from the fringe, from outsiders, from people not blinded by consensus.
The finest candle makers in history couldn't even imagine electric light — because they were trapped inside the accepted paradigm.

His warning: “We're going to kill ourselves because of stupidity.”

A fierce defense of real observation, thinking, and discussion — over credentialed groupthink.

When has “peer-reviewed consensus” held back progress in your experience — or when has an outsider idea changed everything?

Gabor Maté on ADHD in kids: "It's not a disorder—it's a coping mechanism for a sensitive child in a stressed family."

In this powerful clip, Maté reframes ADHD as the brain's way of protecting itself:

- Sensitive, empathetic children absorb parental/family stress.

- They "go absent-minded" to self-protect (not defiance or laziness).

- Often highly talented, warm-hearted, deeply feeling.

- They crave emotional security above all—understanding, not just behavior fixes or meds.

"Once you realize a kid is like that... make them feel emotionally safe."

A compassionate shift from "fix the child" to "heal the environment."

Parents/teachers: Does this resonate with what you've seen in kids (or even yourself growing up)? What helped create real emotional safety? Share your thoughts/experiences respectfully below.

I vividly remember this occasion... It was 30 years ago.
He interviewed me for a series for a Dutch TV channel. You can see in the picture the opening of a game I won against Wolfgang Uhlmann, sacrificing 2 pawns for a huge attack on the kingside. We analysed this game together during the interview that he picked himself. Do you know why this one? Because it was the moment when he realised that I am... a special player, he said in the interview. His statement gave me a lot and encouraged me.🙏
Many years later, in 2020, we changed the roles, and I conducted an interview with him (you can watch it in the BIO). I respected his chess, his artistic vision of chess as a practical player and as a chess composer, and respected his character.
Rest In Peace, Jan Timman 🕯️

Heeft u een hoge bloeddruk? Echt waar?
"Normaal" is nu 110/70 of lager.
