#neverforget1984
36 years ago, the Indian Gov’t launched a military invasion into the Darbar Sahib, killing thousands of innocent.
The Sikh Genocide & the intergenerational trauma that followed will never be forgotten - nor will it break us.
My statement from last year:
THREAD
(1/5)
Today is the day brown twitter is united as everybody remembers the attacks on Sri Darbar Sahib. Thousands of people are using #neverforget84 and images taken from Jaggi's website and information which he collated over many years is being reused.
whether it’s fighting for injustices in 2020 or that of the scenes on June 1, 1984 - its the resistance that makes for history and will never be forgotten.
in dedication of all those who lost their lives in 84 and those who continue to battle through those haunting memories.

it's a great disservice to the Shaheeds to victimize ourselves for what happened in June 1984. never forget that we stood up and smiled in the face of bullets and tyranny whilst firing back in defense of our Guru's Sikhi for 10 whole days.
“They say it has been more than 30 years so forget the 1984 massacres, but how can I? Not one day goes by without me thinking about it” — Bhaggi Kaur, survivor of 1984 Sikh massacres. #neverforget1984
I am urging the government to address the PPE concerns of Sikh frontline workers.
No One should be made to choose between breaking their faith and compromising their safety or commitment to the front line.

Guru Arjun Dev Ji gives us hope and tells us that anything is possible. We may have reached the lowest place in our life but there is always a way out. If we join with the beloved Saints of Vaheguru & lovingly meditate on their feet, we’ll be saved.

The panic buying due to #coronavirus should be an education on how #Refugees have to survive without food & water whilst escaping war ! We are so quick to judge them but not very good at being in their shoes ! #COVIDー19
