Finally watched the movie Obsession. Genuinely one of the most disturbing movies made in recent memory. Not for gore, or for classic horror, but the psychological terror of abusive toxic relationships. Spoilers ahead so stop reading here if you haven't seen it:

Not sure if there is a moral to the story. Bear is a passive meek character who made a wish to have Nikki love him forever, which at the time of the wish was innocent as he didn't believe he would be taking her free will away, he was just making a silly wish as a lark on a toy and vocalizing his desire. If he knew it would be real he would never do it.

Once the wish was made, the fact that Bear continued to be in the relationship made him completely in the wrong. Instead of immediately going back to the shop to learn his options to break the curse, he kind of lived with the overwhelming terror of Nikki's antics because of the 1% of the time things were good and he got to be with her. That's where he was colossally wrong. Very sad, selfish, bad Bear!

The actor/actress who played Bear/Nikki were phenomenal. Deserve massive credit. Nailed it. Even the support cast of their friends were great. You knew their deaths were coming, especially Bear's other girl friend Sarah, but it was still shocking when it happened.

The fact that they made this movie for under $1M and its (deservedly) gone on to make $400M+ is incredible. It proves with good acting, good direction, a good script, good music, etc., you don't need CG slop for a mega hit.

The ending twist with the final last minute willow was very well done as well.

A very good movie. Recommended. Very unsettling. Really captures and exaggerates the real dynamics of abusive relationships and magnifys it into the horror realm. Themes that resonated with enough people to propel a $400M box office gross.

A very clever and disturbing movie. 9/10.

Through our 50 Yard Challenge, over 6,000 kids across the country have signed up to mow free lawns for the elderly, disabled, veterans, active-duty military, first responders, and single parents. With America celebrating its 250th birthday this year and me also being born on July 4th, I wanted to humbly ask if a few kids from our program and myself could travel to Washington, D.C. to help mow the White House lawn for this historic celebration.

More than anything, I want these kids to see how a simple act of service something as ordinary as mowing a lawn for someone in need can lead to extraordinary places. What better lesson in community service than showing them that helping others can take them all the way to our nation’s capital? I’d also love to bring my American flag-themed mower in hopes that the President might sign it, so I can later auction it off and donate 100% of the proceeds to a nonprofit supporting veterans. It would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to highlight the importance of service, patriotism, and the impact young people can have when they choose to make a difference. 🇺🇸
