Guess it’s about picking your poison. It’s all about threat model anyway. This doesn’t mean you have to use the app signal to maximize your privacy. It’s just a nice to know I guess.

I like Pavel Durov, he has a history of resisting government. But telegram isn’t private, we can ask @grok to confirm this. But it does advertise itself as private.
WhatsApp is end to end encrypted on standard chats and groups. Telegram isn’t end to end encrypted on standard chats or groups, only in secret chats. On telegram standard chats, the encryption is only done while in transit but it stays in plain readable text in telegram’s servers. I like Pavel’s vision and his stance though. Also WhatsApp has perfect forward secrecy, which is that if a hacker gets a hold of your decryption keys, they won’t work anyway and I’m not sure if telegram has this. Meta is the most data collector hungry of every single tech related thing that exists, but I think telegram also isn’t innocent on that.
