The Burgersfort Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit is seeking community assistance in tracing Bonginkosi Kgopotso Mazibuko [34], who is a suspect in two rape incidents involving two victims aged 12 and 17.
The rape incidents were committed at separate locations in the Sekhukhune District during October 2022 and November 2024 period.
It is reported that on 24 October 2022, a 17-year-old female victim was walking to school when a silver Volkswagen Polo motor vehicle with an unknown registration suddenly stopped in front of her.
The motor vehicle was allegedly driven by an unknown male suspect at the time of the incident, and he allegedly pointed a firearm at the victim and instructed her to get inside the vehicle
It is further alleged that the suspect drove with a 17 year-old victim to the bushes at Ga-Mathipa village and ordered her to undress upon their arrival.
The suspect allegedly took pictures of the victim and untimely raped her inside the motor vehicle. Following the rape ordeal, the suspect drove with the victim and later dropped her at the main road and drove away.
The victim got assistance from a motorist and went home to inform her grandmother, who reported the matter to the local police.
The suspect allegedly continued with his evil behaviour and raped a 12 year-old female victim in the area on 18 November 2024, using the same modus operandi.
Afterward, she was dropped next to the school premises, and a rape case was immediately opened at the local police.
Intensive police investigations were conducted and eventually positively linked a 34 year-old male suspect with two rape cases through forensic DNA analysis.
