@Defoni It's interesting you say that! I wrote this from a perspective that's foreign to me too - boot blacking isn't something I personally get horny over, but I find having someone so intensely focused, to the removal of all else, incredibly attractive. Quite literally a 'head empty' -

An opposition to incest is a belief based in eugenics. The only actual argument against incest that 'makes sense' is the potential creation of sickly offspring. Seeing the sick as undesirable members of a population, and attempting to cull them, is eugenics.

@Tc_book I've been away too long to keep track of it all to be honest, I can't prove that it happened (for me), only that there was implication and intent. Others may have more proof than I do but I don't want to name names or throw accusations that were only implied or intended.

@suckyvibes Overall it was a general complaint. There is a huge discrepancy between how authors and artists are treated and this was one significant difference I could think of.

@suckyvibes Since I don't follow them anywhere, I can't prove they did it. I have, however, spoken to other authors that have had the same artist behave this way. It'll be up to them to air their grievances, I don't feel like I have much of a say in the matter when all's said and done.

@suckyvibes As ironic as this might be, I don't want to name names because I can't prove that it happened to me, specifically. The artist merely mentioned they intended to post artwork based on a story I wrote, and implied it would be behind a paywall.

I misspoke - 'inspired by' is a blurry area. Art where you literally drew a scene or premise and even say it was based on an author's work, that is what I'm talking about. Very upsetting to see it happening.

Platforms where writers might be able to make income en masse, such as P@treon, are becoming so increasingly unfriendly to NSFW writers, it seems like pouring salt on the wound to post art that was inspired by free fic on those platforms when you didn't even ask the author first.

Especially then putting that art behind a paywall, where authors don't have the luxury of openly charging or paywall-ing their work. If you're going to draw based off of someone's fic, I feel like the bare minimum would be asking permission, and never taking money for it.

Did I miss something where the etiquette for writers asking artists if they can write based on their art no longer applies to things happening the other way around?
