Tom Nichols: The president of the United States does not know what he's doing. He's an unstable person and the people below him are incredibly incompetent. His negotiating team is his son-in-law and a real estate developer. The Secretary of State is somewhere. The Director of National Intelligence is virtually invisible.
As much as I want to see those poor people freed from the russian genocidal hell in Oleshky, everyone needs to understand that anything russia does serves a clear purpose, and @ZarinaZabrisky explains it profoundly.

We just learned more about Trump’s Venezuela oil deal, and here’s everything you need to know:
1. This deal is structured to hide the identities of people who stand to profit from it.
You don’t hide that unless you have a reason to. And the man whose firm Trump just bought a 35% stake in? Alejandro Betancourt, a Venezuelan billionaire who has faced several money-laundering investigations around the world.
2. Don’t expect cheaper gas anytime soon.
Experts have been telling us for MONTHS that oil production in Venezuela isn’t going to lower U.S. gas prices anytime soon. Betancourt’s company is able to deliver as much oil in a year as the U.S. uses in a few days. Anyone promising this deal will bring down prices at the pump is selling you lies.
3. If there’s a legal fight over this agreement, it has to go through a Texas court that Trump’s DOJ has repeatedly turned to for favorable rulings.
4. This deal creates a board designed to be shielded from oversight and accountability. Trump’s own Treasury Secretary wasn’t able to give Congress basic answers or audits when he testified about Venezuela just last month. But we should blindly trust them now?
So let’s recap: Americans aren’t going to feel relief at the pump. The identity of the people involved is conveniently hidden from us. And legal disputes go to a specific court that disproportionately rules in Trump’s favor.
Whatever you think American foreign policy towards Venezuela should be, Congress and the public deserve to know who’s involved and where the money is going.

Russian casualties from Ukrainian drones have passed 300,000 since January 1. That is roughly 1,000 a day, every day, for almost ten months.
Every hit is recorded on video in DELTA and verified by @BRAVE1ua. No month has dropped below 26,000, and March peaked at nearly 34,000.
Every Russian soldier stopped by a drone is one who never reaches a Ukrainian position. Verified hits earn units points for more drones, EW systems and UGVs through Brave1 Market.

I now have two sources close to Susie Wiles who claim that Trump is preparing a vast misinformation campaign for November 4th, built around conspiracy theories alleging widespread election fraud.
The plan? Declare victory regardless of the results, accuse Democratic officials of manufacturing ballots overnight, claim voting machines were secretly manipulated, and demand that Republican candidates refuse to concede.
In this scenario, the goal isn’t to prove fraud. It’s to convince millions of Americans that any election Republicans lose must have been stolen.

🇪🇺 EU has no plans to return to Russian energy resources, including after the end of the war in Ukraine, — EC spokeswoman
“We have learned our lesson,” she said.
Moreover, by the end of 2027, the EU plans to completely abandon Russian gas.
She added that sanctions against the Russian energy sector will remain in place until the end of Putin’s war.
Why are most media outlets saying Flávio Bolsonaro simply “left” Brazil after losing the presidential election?
He fled the country while under investigation for corruption and money laundering, defied a Supreme Court order to surrender his passports, and had his Brazilian passports revoked.
This is hardly an ordinary departure.
The same media outlets regularly use bombastic language when it’s completely unwarranted, yet choose remarkably mild language to describe something this serious.
Most people get their understanding of events from headlines before liking, commenting or sharing. Journalists have a responsibility to write headlines that accurately convey what happened, rather than leave out the most important facts.

Merits a thorough investigation to say the least.
So, shall we spell out Trump’s actions regarding Putin and Russia, dear Americans?
1) Trump normalizes the dictator Putin by hosting him in Anchorage.
2) Trump constantly pressures Ukraine, while exerting no pressure on Russia.
3) Trump’s son—who frequently criticizes Ukraine in public—receives funds for his wedding from a Russian oligarch in Putin’s inner circle, and vacations with him in Mongolia.
4) Trump repeatedly lifts sanctions on Russian oil, enabling Putin to continue financing the war in Ukraine.
5) Trump is attempting to return frozen assets to Putin.
6) Trump is trying to unfreeze the "dirty money" belonging to Putin’s associates for his own personal enrichment.
7) To be continued...
Could true Republicans have imagined such a scenario even a decade ago? So brazen corruption and immorality?
We are facing a crisis of impunity. That's why we built The Rule of Law Project — to investigate unlawful conduct by federal officials, and work with state and local prosecutors to hold them to account.
