I’ll say this for free as someone who worked with the NHS & 3 local councils in the UK,
They value experience more than anything for most jobs. You can have a masters degree and your boss is someone with school cert equivalent
Work experience & ability to demonstrate. Key 🔑
This nurse had me offloading all the "thank yous" from my mouth today.
She was so nice, patient and attentive. I kept staring in awe and she became uncomfortable at some point.
Y"all the stereotype isn't true oo. There are very cool female nurses!! I met one today😊
The problem I have with you people is that you always think you are the only one asking the people in diaspora for money…
I wish one day they can show you their request from family members and friends alone , then you understand the struggles …
Immigration is not the reason that you can’t get a hospital appointment, it’s the reason you can get one.
Please retweet for all the people who can’t seem to grasp that.
When Funke Akindele started Jenifa's Diary and intentionally portrayed a character who spoke poor English for comic effect, whenever I saw my younger sister, who was in secondary school then, watching it on TV, I would ask her to change the channel. I knew children are easily influenced and can quickly pick up habits they see repeatedly.
The same applies to Peller's content, before the coinage of "Olodo Uprising" concept by Ycee, whenever TikTok's algorithm brings it to my feed, I swipe past it because I am not comfortable with that style of communication. I wouldn't have had any issue if he had chosen to communicate in a native language, provided he used it appropriately.
The purpose of content should be to entertain, educate, and inform. If it does not achieve ALL of these objectives, then it is not content that should be promoted for public consumption, especially where children are concerned.
The content children consume today shapes the language, values, and habits they carry into tomorrow.
Across the NHS there are currently around:
* 8,000 doctor vacancies
* 25,000 nurse vacancies
* 100,000 total vacancies
And yet ignorant people in the comments still talk of people ‘stealing their jobs’
The truth is the NHS would collapse without staff from all over the world
We do not talk enough about the depression that comes when you spend millions of naira to self sponsor your OSCE to become a UK 🇬🇧 nurse, pay for hotel (which is expensive), feed yourself and sometimes have resit in the exams. Then finally you pass the OSCE, get your NMC pin and cannot secure a job for the whole six months you’re in the UK before your Visa expires, then you have no choice than to come back to Nigeria 😣
That experience will break you fr.
This thread cannot be complete without me Posting my Mother.
I can't type all because there isn't enough space so I used my note pad to type it.
Super proud of the mother I have.

We shouldn't have to keep reminding healthcare professionals not to wear their uniforms or scrubs outside the hospital.
Yet, some nurses, nursing students, doctors, and other healthcare workers are still moving around in public with their scrubs and uniforms on.
By August 2022 I had applied to 240 Nursing jobs on Tracjob and 50 jobs on NHSJobs site with no single interview!
This was when Japa was hot, every day you will see one or two people using that picture of “welcome to a new dispensation” to inform us here that they have Japa (were you there? 😂)
I apply to atleast 5 jobs every day and sent 5 cold mail to random employers daily, my IELTS had one more year before expiring, i was very aggressive with the applications but my strength began to fail me at August 2022.
Fortunately for me I got one interview after 300 applications but unfortunately I wasn’t offered the job, that broke my spirit fr, I decided to stop any form of application for a whole month, I needed time to recover 😮💨, emotionally I was exhausted from receiving that “unfortunately we regret to inform you…” email.
That morning one of my male nurse colleague text me on WhatsApp: “guy apply to this trust, they are recruiting aggressively”
“we have heard this talk before, most of them do not give more than one or two nurses” I replied.
“guy na who give up fuckup o, apply as e dey hot” that’s what he said and I was like ok let me just apply, it’s just one application, what will it change?
Fellas I was called for an interview and currently working with the trust as we speak!
True true na who give up fuckup o. You just need one ‘Yes’ out of a hundred ‘No’ 🤲🏻😌😌
I want to believe the Ginger you people went to watch at the Cinema is not the one I'm watching. They need to first jail the producer and casts then you people.
Rest in Peace, Dr Remi-Alo Damade.
You were such an amazing fellow.
Your smile was always one that melted hearts.
You will be missed.
We lost a hero on Earth.
