What Rúben Amorim was building at Manchester United vs what Michael Carrick has turned us into.
AMORIM:
— Tried to establish a clear footballing identity.
— Demanded discipline and accountability.
— Challenged the board instead of protecting them.
— Backed young talents like Yoro and Heaven
— Worked to rebuild the dressing-room mentality.
— Wanted players suited to a long-term system.
— Refused to lower his standards to please anyone.
CARRICK:
— Has left us looking tactically confused.
— Keeps playing attackers out of their natural positions.
— Has failed to find a settled, balanced starting XI.
— Has made questionable defensive selections.
— Struggles to control matches against weaker opposition.
— Has overseen our worst league start in 40 years.
— Couldn’t protect a lead against 10-man Tottenham.
Amorim was building something that needed patience. Carrick inherited the project, but we’re now watching it lose direction.
The biggest mistake INEOS made wasn’t appointing Carrick. It was abandoning Amorim before giving his project a proper chance. We sacked the man demanding change and kept the problems he was trying to fix.
Ukila ovyo,
utachoka mapema,
utapoteza focus,
na utapunguza output yako.
Lakini ukijifunza kula kwa nidhamu,
utaongeza nguvu, focus na stamina ya maisha.
Eat like someone who has goals, not like someone with no direction.
A lot of people seem to be confused by this image from PSG's training. It’s a basic 8v8+4 positional rondo that has been used by many coaches for years, with plenty of variations
🚨 Big Newcastle wins in years gone by have been down to physicality and defensive nous.
That was definitely present against Spurs, but Matthias Jaissle and his team controlled the game with AND without the ball.
It was a COMPLETE tactical MASTERCLASS! ⚫️⚪️

Hawa ndio watu wanaobadilisha dunia.
Ukibarikiwa kuwapata, shikamana nao. Usipowapata… kuwa mmoja wao. 🔥
The voice note exchange between Khaldoon Al Mubarak and Soriano after the 2-0 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
Khaldoon was clearly very angry and disappointed with the sheer number of changes Pep made, ten in total, and with the self-criticism that followed the game.
He didn’t even want to speak to him.
Beyond tactics, Pep talks about the difference in celebrations (in training versus in games when City score). He touches on the importance of hugging each other more, building unity and cohesion through genuine connection. Genius stuff. 🩵
Pep categorises managers into three different categories. 1) Managers who are good tactically 2) Managers who are good at man-management 3) Managers who are good with the media.
But he says the one characteristic every manager must have is the ability to convince players.
And in the end it’s all about giving players the weapons to express themselves as best they can, to be exactly who they are. There’s nothing more than that.
And when a manager changes shapes and systems, it’s to give the players the comfort they need to win games.
One evening, after the Spain–France game, Cherki had to speak via phone with Pep, Ferran, Viana, and Txiki. And Pep urged Ferran to pay for him quickly cause he had other offers.
The metrics used on the software to identify Cherki as KDB's replacement.
The concerns about his attitude that had Hugo and Txiki contacting four different coaches to assess his mentality (one of them gave a bad report).
The voice note exchange between Ferran and Khaldoon about signing him.
🚨 Harry Maguire: “It’s been great to see Rúben Amorim. He’s a great manager”.
“I have nothing bad to say about the guy. It just didn't work out at United. But he's got a massive club now. I'll be following them and hope they have an amazing season”.
Tengeneza connection na watu usitengeneze urafiki.
Marafiki watakuumiza maana kikulacho kinguoni kwako.

Just finished Mourinho's Netflix special, and it's honestly one of the best sports documentaries I have seen.
In the comments, I leave you with the best (my personal favorites) and most surprising quotes from José Mourinho's new Netflix documentary.

“I’m probably NOT going to continue into the transfer market industry as I’m doing right now for longer.
“It’s time to CHANGE the approach, the view, but this will be another topic soon, after the transfer window closes.”
