On NBA Elections, @OmoyemiAkangbe SAN
has spoken my mind.
People keep urging us to let bygones be bygones, accept the outcome, and move on. However, I don’t feel inclined to congratulate a candidate who has refused to acknowledge the clear flaws in the process, simply because the outcome favoured her.
To me, this silence reveals a lot about her character. When Umaru Musa Yar’Adua was elected President of Nigeria, he openly admitted that the process that brought him to power was flawed and pledged to reform it. That level of honesty and accountability isn’t difficult. The NBA President-elect could have done the same.
I think most people associate being a high-value woman with aesthetics. Once a babe can afford a wig, get a style of dressing, and have an Instagram-like picture portfolio, she assumes that it is high value.
But in real sense, it goes far beyond appearance. Looking expensive isn’t the same as being valuable.
Be mindful of your privileges.
When you are driving, always give room for pedestrians to cross. If there is a puddle of water, ensure you avoid it where possible or drive so slow you don't make a splash on pedestrians.
It takes sicknesses one minute to wipe away the money you made from Hardwork.
Please take care of your health.
May God continue to bless and keep us all in health and wealth, In Jesus Name,
Amen.
People infantilize women a lot. I seem to be the one that rate them more. Maybe because I'm used to seeing many successful women in different careers. Point out any career peak, there are women there.
Don't let any clown where women don't succeed in their family tell your daughter that after all your investment in her, she should delude herself into thinking she is high value if she can get a guy her own age to give her money to start a business and fund her lifestyle. You baby girl can be more. She will be. You'll be a proud father.
Even on this X, there are so many high flying women. If we don't call out shit, we begin to see them as normal.
Actually some of you don't dislike bad governance as much as you say you do. Infact you're only pained that you're not a beneficiary of the corruption in the system.
What this moment requires is honesty. And the truth is this: an election in which thousands of eligible, willing, determined voters were prevented from casting their ballots by a platform that was not fit for purpose cannot, in good conscience, be treated as though it produced the unimpeachable will of the profession. The administrative collapse was too deep, too widespread, and too well-documented to be papered over with a result.
Imagine abandoning every principle you once preached, just for crumbs of proximity to the NBA Presidency.
Now picture the same person handed a seat at Tinubu’s outer court. Daniel Bwala would watch in envy at the excellence he will bring to sycophancy.
Senator Ahmad Lawan recently facilited the recruitment of two of his constituents into the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) and even posted it on his Social Media handles.
There was no public announcement from the DIA that they will be recruiting.
Parastatals/agencies will announce recruitment but the politicians/elites will be the ones to fill the positions with their preferred candidates while the children of nobody are left on their fate without consideration.
This country nawa oo!!!
None of the numbers on the voting site is going through and the one that went through said he is Mohammed from a certain transport company, that people have been calling him since morning and he doesn't know why.
Interesting times in the NBA. 😂
I dey wait for them to come and open mouth about Nigerian politics or INEC.
You are blind to electoral irregularities in NBA elections and you expect us to take you seriously over Nigerian politics?
No worry post first make I see. Una go really call me bully for this app very soon.
All of you that are applauding the election because your candidate won despite the clear irregularities lack the moral obligation to criticize INEC in 2027.
Moreover, all your templates will be useful going forward.
“Silence is no longer an option” is silent in the face of electoral malpractice because he is a beneficiary of the malpractice.
Activist by day, APC by night 🙂
