@Sonic9jct @purepsychotropi anyway, thanks for the public library love—I’m sure I can speak for all librarians when I say: we appreciate when people give us a little social media advert boost 😊
@Sonic9jct @purepsychotropi The other unfortunate barrier to manga in libraries is that serial pubs (like manga and comic books) are very expensive to purchase in their entirety and incredibly problematic to shelve. Putting all of, say, Naruto, on the shelf takes up way more space that most libraries have.
from one over-medicated kid turned semi-functional adult to another—thanks for the laughs and the ADD solidarity @adamconover (and the good wine @citywineryphil)
@kathleenogrady while I’m sure librarians (myself included) appreciate that you’re giving some much needed love to Libby, please be careful to learn a little bit more about the services you’re talking about—when in doubt it’s always a good idea to direct people to their own public libraries!
@kathleenogrady public librarian here, hi! it’s very misleading to say that Libby automatically gives you access to Kanopy. these are separate services (even if they’re linked on your app) not every library offers both. It’s better to encourage people to check out what their specific library has
@itskatharocity Realistically, I could also check off “must shake leg” and “needing to climb everything” but I genuinely do not need to wiggle or rub anything on my face. still, it’s frightening how many of these I can check off 🤣

It’s been a solid 5 years since I was able to read for pleasure at the pace I’m reading now—that is to say: my reading hangover from nearly (read: actually) burning myself out in college is finally over. I’m back to a-book-a-day and it is FANTASTIC.
