@Kenny_DB1983 Same! I just signed up for bluesky but idk how I feel about it yet. I just stopped coming on here and it makes me really sad to lose all those relationships I’ve built. 😭
But also being single during a time like this kind of sucks. It’s all up to me to keep an eye on shit, no sleeping on shifts, no taking a break from the news. I love being single and being able to do what I want but it really sucks sometimes.
I have a bag packed waiting by the door and I’m so fucking tired and I’m too scared to sleep. I’ve been going between distractions and keeping an eye on the fires for hours. I’ve lived here on and off for ~25 years and this is hands down the most terrifying thing I’ve witnessed.
I keep going in between states of total numbness and complete fear. I’ve slept ~8 hours over the past 48 hours. I’m surrounded by fires on three sides. My area is safe from evacuations but anything can happen at a moment’s notice.
I finished the podcast on European terror organizations today. There were 3 words I didn’t know:
Roet (seg): calmed down (I have seen this word as a noun meaning something else)
Erfarne: experienced (I know the noun version)
Stridighet: contentiousness (guessed correctly)

@mellosemcor Well I’m going back next summer lol. It felt like coming home. 🥰
Lol that’s what happened to me too! I woke up and it was dark out and I was so confused.
Ahh that’s so awesome! I’ve heard how difficult it is but I love that you still really enjoy it.
@mellosemcor It’s going really well! I started learning it last year to prepare for a trip there but continued after I came back lol. It’s such a beautiful language.
Lol I slept all day too! Ahh I’ve always wanted to learn Tagalog. How is that going?
The word tvetydig (ambiguous) is the death of me. I can never spell it correctly. An n sneaks in half the time, and I usually swap out the y for a second i. I don’t see myself using this word often in conversation but still. #langtwt
Today was also the first time I had to look up a definition in English because I knew it was something to do with politics but was unsure. 😂
Folkeavstemning: referendum
#langtwt
Today I learned about European terrorist organizations. I only read the first part about Spain’s ETA. In this section there were 3 words I didn’t know (and several more I didn’t know but could figure out what they meant).
🩶 børtforing
🩶folkeavstemning
🩶 våpenhvile
So today I learned about radioactivity in Norwegian. 🤓 there were only 4 new words I had to look up.
🩶 muliggjør
🩶 stråling
🩶 kjerne/atomkjerne
🩶 henfaller
I always read it aloud first and then go back and listen to him, it’s incredibly beneficial.
I can read and listen to topics like the importance of financial literacy and how the Norwegian government works, but heaven forbid I have to use the correct form of å gjøre/gjør/gjorde/har gjort in a sentence. 😭 thankfully I know the passive conjugation but jfc. 😩😩
There were three words in my reading I didn’t know tonight:
🩶 riksdekkende
🩶 å prege
🩶 trykkfeil
I was reading about the prejudices and attitudes Norwegians have against foreign-sounding spoken Norwegian in the media (but also in general). It was very interesting. 🥰
@LearningLulu Ahh thank you! Life got in the way for a bit but I haven’t stopped studying, just cutting back a bit. I hope to be around more often! It’s so good to see some familiar names around. 💕
There were 3 words in my reading that I didn’t know tonight:
🩶 erkebispesetet
🩶 å erobre
🩶 erkebispegården
I could guess what the nouns were, though. It feels like only yesterday that I was looking up dozens of words and had to split up my reading into two days. ☺️
