@lianda_edu One reviewer said one of my proofs was incorrect, gave me a 2 (reject) and dipped out. I explained why it was correct and they were wrong, and they ghosted me as well...
it's incredible how these models are now narrowly super intelligent at discrete mathematics
but at the same time they are still below PhD level in other fields
it goes to show how much of the progress depends on verifiability
@Shoggathic@Xenoimpulse Yes, I also study mathematics for a living. I never liked the obsession people especially outside the field have with famous named conjectures, just seemed like more about prestige of it than the subject itself to me, (not always ofc)

@Shoggathic@Xenoimpulse So replacing a bunch of pure academic mathematicians is not going to be a gain in revenue like replacing SWEs in a company. I don't think mathematicians need to worry about losing their jobs, it's a completely misplaced worry
@Shoggathic@Xenoimpulse There's more theory building to mathematics than solving famous conjectures, until long term/persistent memory in LLMs is solved they're not going to build grand theories like Grothendieck's project or Langlands.
Also, only pure mathematicians care about pure math...
