Venezuela shakes. Britain burns. The world floods.
The fossil rich call it “natural disaster” because “corporate crime scene” sounds too honest.
The planet is not dying. It is being killed.
A court filing reveals that Adani's legal team submitted nearly 500 pages of expert opinions & legal arguments, including from a former chief justice of India, to persuade the US Justice Department to abandon its criminal case. | @DevirupaM✍️
Ugh. Right on cue, the MRAs have found a new poster girl in Siya Goyal. No, you little vultures. One shocking case does not magically erase reality. Your entire argument rests on a textbook anecdotal fallacy: grab a handful of sensational crimes committed by women, amplify them endlessly, and pretend they outweigh decades of crime statistics, victimisation data, and social research. That isn't analysis. It's propaganda. Every victim deserves justice, whether male or female. But justice is not served by cherry-picking exceptional cases and presenting them as the norm.
One woman commits a crime & suddenly it's a referendum on womanhood.
Thousands of dowry deaths later, we are still told not to judge all men. Principles change depending on the gender of the accused.
IMPORTANT: So Shiv Sena (UBT) ‘rebel’ MP Om Raje Nimbalkar says he is leaving party because ‘he needs to secure development funds’. A worst kept secret is now coming out: if you want funds for your constituency, you now have to be on the right side of the party in power. Is this how a multi party democracy is going to work? These ‘development funds’ don’t belong to any party or individual but are paid for by us the tax payers: by discriminating between parties, a terrible precedent is being set. Will CAG or any constitutional body take notice ?? 🙏 (by the way, anecdotal evidence shows that most of the funds end up as local projects to favoured contractors on commission basis).
men should only fucking talk to me when they’ve sorted their shit out. have a week long conversation with yourself if you are ready for something real, if you can handle it emotionally, and only then knock on my door bcs im insane in love (in a good way) & im not sorry for it
Umar Khalid’s brilliant PhD thesis has just been published as a book. It is a rigorously researched and richly readable history of Adivasis in Chotanagpur. May his cruel incarceration end soon, and Dr Khalid write more fine works of historical scholarship.
