For Software Engineers: While 'vibe coding' might seem like a shortcut, continuous engagement in it can diminish the critical thinking and design skills you've painstakingly developed. 'vibe coding' is better suited for those not aiming for deep engineering proficiency. To preserve your craft, ensure your daily work involves genuine problem-solving, architectural decision making and system design, not just superficial code generation.

If you've been vibe coding heavily lately, put yourself to the test: disable AI tools and try solving real engineering problems on your own. Use platforms like Exercism, LeetCode, or Advent of Code to see if your problem-solving, system design, and coding precision are still sharp.

If you struggle, it’s a sign that vibe coding may be dulling your core skills. In that case, take a step back. Use AI as a learning aid—ask it questions, seek clarifications—but don’t rely on it for ready-to-use code. Preserve the craft. Protect the edge you’ve spent tremendous hours and efforts to build.
