A lot of men will never say this publicly, but many boys are introduced to sex through abuse or manipulation at very young ages, mostly by older women around them, housemaids, neighbors, relatives, caregivers, or older girls.

And because society rarely sees boys as victims, many grow up normalizing what happened to them instead of recognizing it as abuse.

Today is International Day of the Boy Child, yet the timeline is quiet.

No campaigns.
No school outreaches.
No serious conversations about drugs, sexual abuse, mental health, peer pressure, hygiene, violence, or emotional development for boys.

But every year, men complain that society doesn’t celebrate men enough.

The truth is: visibility is built.
Women consistently show up for girls and women. They organize. They advocate. They create conversations and communities.

Men need to start doing the same for boys.

If you went through difficult things as a boy, help make sure another boy doesn’t grow up carrying the same silence.
