1. My heart goes out to this kid because he clearly worked hard. That being said...

2. The median SAT score for Cornell's previous admitted class is 1510. His score is 1460. He's barely outside the bottom quartile of scores, far below average.

3. He appears to have a weighted GPA (for AP/IB courses). His unweighted GPA would likely be around 3.68 on a 4.0 scale. The average GPA for a student admitted to Cornell is about 3.9, which means--despite having an exemplary GPA--he is still far below average.

He wasn't accepted because he was below average compared to Cornell's typical applicant standards, not because he's white.
