35 year old man from UK π¬π§. Remembering how to develop. Software development, game development, machine learning, evidence based politics. He/Him.
Day 6: Today I started experimenting with different state machines and how to build efficient one, as well as more familiarising with Unity interface. Almost completed simple game number 2 of the 100 days. #100DaysOfCode
@MooAsker @learn__together Repetition might seem boring, but:
- It helps you to understand hard topics
- Gain hard skills
- Improve in those hard skills
- Explain hard skills to newbies
- Become an expert in those hard skills

@antonelli_a @learn__together There's a potential solution for your tilde issue here. Covers Windows and *nix systems down a bit :)

@splotcho @Gangerworld @KeithBos3@thelindsayellis In New Hampshire, he received twice the votes of Obama and Bush. In Iowa, he received more than Obama did.
The impeachment energised and galvanized the Trump base. "A carbon rod could beat Trump" is so very wrong. There's a strong chance he'll win. Very strong.
@splotcho @Gangerworld @KeithBos3@thelindsayellis I'm not surprised but disheartened by the response above. It's a typical social media echo chamber response and the frustrating thing is watching it and knowing you can't break through.
Trump is running nearly unopposed and is smashing turnout records in the primaries.
@sudo_overflow@DamianoMe I can tell you everything that you want to know about the COCOMO model of software estimation, Kanban working methods and when and where to use singletons.
Being able to manipulate strings effectively though. Errr...not so much.
Does anyone else feel that the hardest thing about developing is making colour and other UX choices that don't look grotesque? I'm ok at making things work, but making them look like they were designed by a semi-functioning adult is proving to be a challenge #CodeNewbies
@mattcarmody16@kurteichenwald@WHO The amount of misinformation that Twitter outrage merchants are peddling during this outbreak should be illegal or something. Maybe not illegal but they should be held responsible for it in some form.
Day 5: Today I ranked up for the first time on @codewars! And then discovered that the "Tweet this" button is broken. With this achieved, I'm going to have a cigarette, a chocco milkshake then dive back into Unity #100DaysOfCode#CodeNewbies
@WithWrestler@SuplexSociety We're not talking about wrestling here, we're talking about the structure of a corporation and how voting shares work. As long as Vince owns the majority of B shares, which have 10x the voting power of A shares that everybody holds then he's essentially the only one with power.
@WithWrestler@SuplexSociety My point is that they can be as upset as they like but they can't actually do anything about it as Vince holds all the voting power.
@sudo_overflow Coming back to it now in my mid-thirties and starting fresh, I cannot explain how incredibly helpful it is for my mental health to see other people struggling. I'll probably never work in the industry but reigniting my passion for coding has been a great change in my life <3
@sudo_overflow I graduated with a SoftEng degree in 2008 with a respectable 2:1 grade. Programming was my strongest aspect. Despite this, I've never used my degree because I've always had an intense fear that I had no idea what I was doing and everybody else was so far in front of me.
@SarahJa77467467 @learn__together I always try to remember that even if you only write a single line then you've done better than if you would have not tried and wrote 0.
Day 4 - Today I sharpened my C# skills by going through some katas on Codewars and finished my little Unity game. Prepped tomorrow by starting my new project and setting up a simple scene. #100DaysOfCode
