While global media attention has switched to Venezuela, worth pointing this out;
Iran enters tenth day of protests with 29 killed, 1,203 civilians detained so far.
And just like that my tenure as CO of the Air Force Band comes to an end. 4 years at the helm of an amazing group of musicians and humans, travelled more than 5 times the circumference of the planet and made some excellent music along the way. I’m now their #1 fan!
A netsuke pea pod, believed to originate from Japan during the Edo period (1603-1868). Carved with masterful precision, it’s a testament to the artistry of a bygone era.
This diminutive sculpture, fashioned from a single piece of wood, mimics the form of a pea pod, complete with meticulously detailed peas inside. Time and handling have imbued it with a warm patina. More than mere ornamentation, netsuke served as functional toggles, securing pouches or containers to the obi sash of traditional Japanese garments. It also bears a cultural significance, reflecting themes of prosperity, fertility, or philosophical concepts.
Within this humble pod lies a paradox: a tiny universe of carved detail, encapsulating both the ephemerality of nature and the enduring legacy of human craftsmanship. It whispers tales of journeys and the delicate balance between utility and art, reminding us that beauty often resides in the smallest of things.

This is what 'civilization' looks like. Little Sønderborg, way out in rural Denmark, 28,000 inhabitants, a gorgeous modern concert hall and an ambitious symphony orchestra, opening its season last night with Johan Dalene and Andris Poga. Culturally, I find this so fascinating.
My fascination with kangaroo’s in mid jump began with the Qantas logo when I first arrived in Australia and has stayed with me since 🦘✨.

The photo I'm working on has MILLIONS of visible stars. These monstrous panoramic images are a ton of work but they're soooo satisfying when they finally come together
This is just a tiny snippet of it.
