The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has ordered the immediate withdrawal of Choice Irish Cream Flavoured Drink after lab tests revealed it contains Sildenafil Citrate, a prescription medication not listed on the label.
According to the FDA, the substance poses severe health risks, especially when consumed with alcohol or nitrate medications, as it may cause dangerously low blood pressure leading to stroke or heart attack.

Held on the sidelines of the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD-9), on the theme "Ghana is Open for Business- Unleashing Investment Opportunities for Shared Prosperity", the event featured a keynote address by H.E. John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, who presented a compelling case for Japanese firms to consider Ghana as their gateway to West Africa and the African continent.
Organised in partnership with Ghana's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), the Ministry of Trade, Industry, & Agribusiness (MOTAI), and the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), it served as a strategic platform to deepen Ghana-Japan economic relations.
President Mahama also announced several concrete commitments to facilitate Japanese investment, including fast-track approvals, ready industrial sites, sovereign guarantees, and blended financing frameworks.
Additionally, he called on Japanese firms to commit to local content and technology transfer agreements to train Ghanaian workers and managers.
In his presentation on investing in Ghana, the CEO of GIPC, Mr Simon Madjie, focused on Ghana's transformative economic agenda and the tailored incentives available to Japanese investors. He highlighted two flagship initiatives driving Ghana's investment climate: the Big Push Agenda and the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Development Programme.
Mr. Madjie also outlined a suite of investment incentives, including streamlined approval processes and one-stop investor services, revisions to the GIPC Act to remove minimum capital requirements for foreign investors, access to sovereign guarantees and blended financing frameworks, and ready industrial sites and anchor tenant opportunities in strategic corridors, among others.
