@ponnappa serious: what is AI native? I think "you just talk to it" and the ecosystem around it largely buzzwordy (md files are skills, APIs become mcp and so on). Most people talking about making you a cursor/claude expert are often selling a course
so what is AI native?
@zephyr_z9 It's just a billing thing. Makes it easy for cos to use their AWS budget on other services instead of asking CFO to approve yet another provider
@josevalim I think you need to give more to agents in the sense of high level picture, but less detailed. Like start with showing them intrrfaces rather than implementation
which is why I really like the repo maps idea from aider which doesn't seem that popular in other agents.
What Sarvam is doing against all odds is commendable, miniscule funding, lack of A grade talent ( compared to the Frontier labs), not enough compute , list is endless
For Sarvam to be the Maruti of India ( Maruti IMO is the best success story in Auto $50B - MC - Top 4/5 Global MC in a bull run + does the job for India , following things should happen
1/ India must have tariffs equivalent for the 4 large frontier models (Chatgpt, Gemini, Anthropic, Meta)
2/Make it prohibitive for both enterprises and preferably ban consumer access to frontier labs
3/ We as a country should be able to make sacrifices + have some sort of China model ( Tencent/ We chat model)
It does sound archaic but tariffs and blocking access by Govt are the only ways we can build sovereign LLM's
The frontier labs with their $1 T + MC and unlimited capital to burn can forever subsidize Indian customers ( Rupee costs and $ funding) till Sarvam runs out of cash
Without Govt intervention, we will have the same outcome we had in SM (With TitTok Ban, YT and Insta gained Market share, not the Indian SM folks)
Lets give our players legs to stand on- protect them and by 2035, we can have a Maruti of LLM ( Top 5- in MC in Global LLM)
@MarcusMilione The bear case is that designs/mocks just stop being a thing and people just do it all on code
Thought it'll take years for that thesis to play out
Claude being regulated makes you realize that IF US and China started restricting LLMs to citizens then that kills the entire rest of world's IT industry overnight
