“I don’t want to promise you that your body is beautiful, no matter what. That doesn’t heal body image. What does, is learning that you have value and worth regardless of your outside appearance.”
On Monday we chatted about freeing yourself from the attachment to our bodily expectations. Meaning, free yourself from the notion that you’re supposed to look a certain way to feel valid. Detach yourself from the overwhelming pressure to “love” yourself and instead, just exist.
As an emotional human, I love to swing on a pendulum. But now, I seek to find the middle ground of self hate and self love. There’s so much space in-between two polarities. Explore it. Feel it. And give yourself the gift of freeing yourself from your bodily attachment.
We are not one way. We are not one expression. We are not one belief. We are ever-evolving, innately complicated creatures. Recurring photos are a great way to document the many hats we wear while also honouring our own personal evolution.
Subscription photography does that.
When I think about the kind of intimate photography I want to capture, I think about how I would normally find this person standing in front of my lens on an average Saturday night/Sunday morning...the result is usually magic. #boudoir#yql#yyc#yeg#albertaphotographer
I hope for a future where our sense of self isn’t intrinsically tied to our addiction to tangible productivity. Hustle culture is a trap. I hope for a feature where our sense of self is more authentic. #captureyou#asyouare#youvsyou#boudoir
As we pull out of this; we can start to observe all the areas in our lives that weren’t working before. And as much as we can slowly start to pull toward thinking about what life looks like for US that honours all the beauty and joy we deserve. #pandemic#yql#yyc#yeg#boudoir
Everything I do in this business is a direct attempt to challenge my work and myself. It’s wild that work feels like play, but I have endeavoured to cultivate a work that is enjoyable, despite at times; being disastrously stressful. #boudoirphotography#yql#yyc#yeg
