It blows my mind that Northeastern is now a more selective school than Northwestern.
US college reputations have changed a ton in the last 15yrs.
— Vanderbilt / UChicago are now squarely elite: no different from MIT / Princeton in terms of SAT scores and selectivity.
— The SAT has been gamed into oblivion. You used to rest assured that a 1600 meant you were going somewhere awesome. Now, the top 25% of the 20 universities are 1570+, including NYU.
— Universities in big cities holistically see a huge rise: Boston (NE, BU), NYC (NYU), Chicago (UChicago), LA (USC).
The whole "college is dead" is a luxury belief. At the upper end at least, college is very much alive and it's getting fiercely more competitive.
If this continues, 15yrs later, most top 15 colleges will be <2% acceptance rate.
@jewebacca41@Pritchard4Three@ErikSlater_ after income + jock taxes + agent fees. it's less than half. 4.5 million. if he never takes anything out then it's a 200k~ salary. Rent needs to be around 4k a month which isn't a crazy amount in NYC
@Pritchard4Three@ErikSlater_ if he never earns another contract 9 million is the most he will ever make. not a horrible idea to find a cheaper place to rent
@ClubGrish their at bats do seem better though.
like before they were just swinging at anything and starts were going so deep.
I like this approach better than last week
i know this engagement slop but there are actual issues that come from it and they're all societal reinforcement
basically even if the couple is fine with it there are plenty of people around who are not
My son’s having his first ever sleep over with 3 friends at our house and my wife went out to dinner with some friends, leaving me in charge. She wants an update
