Racing staff are horribly underpaid. A lot of these racehorses are owned by wealthy syndicate members and some by rich individuals. Their racehorses are their assets, and their loved ones like the family pets too. Would you want the person looking after them to be on min wage?
Alan King on the situation that led to an average arrears per worker of £793.78, between April 1, 2019 and September 25, 2022
🗣️ “We sincerely apologise to our colleagues who were affected by these past administrative errors. Our employees are the backbone of the business, and they deserve to be compensated accurately.
“As soon as HMRC brought this to our attention, we co-operated fully and all affected employees were back-paid on conclusion in 2023. HMRC identified a technical underpayment for 24 employees, totalling £19,050.72. This represented a small fraction of under one per cent of total payroll in the review period.
“The regulations surrounding National Minimum Wage can be complicated, but that is not an excuse. We have learned from this process and are fully confident that our current operations prevent any repeat of these issues.”
@DarranPearce I can fully understand the chairman's concerns then, gate receipts and the connection between match going supporters and the clubs are far more important at that level than higher up. Hopefully that new regulator will look at this kind of thing, but I doubt it.
Anyone else watching Sky Sports News on Virgin Media channel 509 having problems? The picture is flickering/bouncing and the text at the bottom is really blurry. Every other channel, including the other Sky Sports channels, is absolutely fine. Anyone else getting this? @virginmedia
The Boreham Wood chairman Danny Hunter has heavily criticised the National League’s media partners DAZN for ‘punishing’ Carlisle United supporters by making them travel to London for an evening kick-off on Saturday.

@JackARacing@mattllaf1981 Completely missed the point. If they want to go after gambling in terms of having more people do it safely, then promote the shops and go after online a bit more should be the way (now that the £2 fobt limit is in force).
@JackARacing@mattllaf1981 I was just thinking about this earlier. It's far easier to promote responsible gambling by having people bet in person at actual betting shops and casinos rather than online. When that news came out about betting shops being targeted by the new government, Zarb-Cousin and his lot
@mattllaf1981 You've missed the obvious two main reasons - online betting is much more popular and there is a general decline in the popularity of racing amongst our population now.
