A bleak reminder of the dire situation for Afghan women and girls. The latest Taliban crackdown? Reportedly suspending women from midwife and nurse training. This would effectively cut off a woman’s last route to further education in the country. They are singing, “The flower will unfurl, revealing a spring of freedom,” they are chanting. “I sing the anthem of freedom, again, again, freedom.” This is not simply a cry for rights; it’s a cry for survival.”
