@WmWeedon@Acolyte_1@WmWeedon - fun fact, I pastored Alma's granddaughter, Wendy in Orchard Park, NY. Most years she would go to visit grandma in Illinois. You don't forget when grandmothers in your parish go to visit THEIR grandmothers.
@TheJollyBrawler If this account is run by a person who wants to learn about christianity, or confessional lutheranism, let me know and I'd be happy to connect you with a better method to ask your questions. I'm not sure these questions in this forum from an anonymous account are fruitful.
"Enjoy your walking together..."
Thanks be to God the apostles and fathers did not consider abandoning each other over the fact that they were all sinners. I emailed Pastor Ricard and explained my thoughts about his comments. I asked him to consider the offense he's given.
"I hate the Athanasian Creed. I think it's a terrible creed. You can disagree with me, but we're gonna put that aside . . . "
Joel Picard, pastor of Trinity Lutheran (LCMS) in Knoxville, Iowa.
Enjoy your "Walking Together," Missourians.
@TheJollyBrawler If the LCMS no longer requires quia subscription to the confessions, I can no longer remain in fellowship. This is the Confessional Lutheran stance. Is this anonymous account run by a christian? I can connect you to a local confessional lutheran pastor who can help you.
@TheJollyBrawler Is this anonymous account run by a christian? Not sure what level of teaching regarding biblical precedents for conflict resolution and reconciliation to offer you. Our synod ceases to exist if the Lutheran Confessions (including the three ecumenical creeds) are not upheld.
@TheJollyBrawler I don't think so. I expect that the pastor will repent of flippant language that he didn't mean. Otherwise, he'll potentially resign or be removed and the synod system will have done exactly what it was meant to do.
@TheJollyBrawler No, it's a problem if any of us rejects the creeds or confessions. My point is that this is a feature of the synod, not a bug. We are here to call each other to walk faithfully.
@bonifacegroup Josh, don't your realize that your "group" or "society" is just a small synod? And that if you have any success in growing either by sharing the gospel or having more kids, you will encounter erring brothers?
I love being a pastor. It’s wonderful.
But sometimes I miss waking up on a Sunday with only the Eucharist on my mind. No business, nothing to do- only a gift to receive.
