Abortion is healthcare. 1 in 4 women have had an abortion and I’m thankful they were able to access that care. We’re not just incubators. We are people and we deserve the dignity of making our own medical decisions.
The talking point will be that a 15 week abortion cutoff is "just like europe" but unless it subsidizes abortion, makes it easy to get one before 15 weeks and offers broad exemptions after, and makes abortion more accessible it is not actually like Europe https://t.co/5CiNwKuEjD
Thank you to GOP Senator @LindseyGrahamSC for making clear that abortion is on the ballot this November.
Democrats support Roe v. Wade. Republicans want to impose a national abortion ban and government-mandated pregnancies.
The two parties are not the same. Vote this November.
Note how quickly goalposts moved once many looked away. In 2 months we went from legal but inaccessible abortion to total bans w/o exceptions for rape, then w/o fetal impairment exceptions, then w/o life endangerment exceptions. They want you to think exceptions are compromises.
I was fortunate to be able to pay off my student debt in 2020 (thanks to my canceled wedding 2 weeks after covid lockdowns began). I’m ecstatic that other people are getting some much needed relief. About time. I hope more student debt relief is on the way.
If you’re fortunate enough to have already paid off your student loans or make too much money to qualify, it’s still possible to be happy for people receiving some much needed relief. So many are weighed down by this debt. Let’s celebrate the relief and then work toward making…
if you have a problem with the student loan cancellation because you already paid off your loans, just pretend its a tax cut for the rich that you also never got but mysteriously didn't complain about.
When a woman is forced to carry a doomed pregnancy to term, she spends months visibly pregnant as strangers congratulate her, ask when she's due, ask "is it a boy or a girl?" She endures the pain and risks of childbirth to have a baby that is dead or dies soon after.
It's time to update your protest signs.
We know change isn't easy, but we're going to explain a few key messages that will make your signs more effective and inclusive for your next protest! 🧵
Showing strength and protecting the right to choose is **unifying.**
Doing something shows people their vote is worth it and translates to change.
Doing nothing is catastrophic. It is not a neutral choice. It’s the destructive choice.
It’s time to be brave. Fear is not a plan.
PLEASE stop with the “camping” stuff. However well-intended, it’s INCREDIBLY dangerous for the people doing it and for abortion patients. You are SERIOUSLY underestimating how many militant anti-abortion activists would be thrilled to pose as a patient or host.
Many companies are stepping up and offering travel and other assistance for their employees to get abortion access but women should not have to share this private health decision with their employers in order to access what yesterday was a constitutional right.
I really hate this need to justify abortion because of r*pe and incest. They’re obviously hugely valid and understandable reasons but “I simply don’t want to be a parent” is reason enough. Having autonomy over your own body is reason enough.
