I had recently posted about an impact model that I developed and here is a sneak peek of the results. This is only for IPL 2016-2021. RAA represents how many more runs a player will score when compared to an average player in the same situation. Phase wise analysis👇
And PACE is PACE. Rapid. Perfect entry point for Matt short from the right end making the batters hit towards the long side against the wind. Basics but MINY are still falling for it.
SFU absolutely nailing the lengths and field set wow. Back of the length with deep square, deep fine, deep third and deep point. Extremely hard to pierce any of those gaps. Long on for that swing. Good luck going over mid off
WF on the other hand had slower bowlers who tend to hit slightly back of length with variations. Again the bounce makes it hard to hit through, so you want your deep fielders mostly behind/square of the wicket. It’s a heavy outfield as well.
Texas 2 hours later trying to preserve wickets in the second innings at exactly 50/3 in 10 😭 Then a wicket the next ball, the chasing team is alr in the backfoot. Impact points closer to the body, open the face and nudge it around.
what teams should be targeting. Going defensive and preserving wickets to launch in the last 10 is already putting you on the backfoot at 50/3 in the first 10 and most teams don’t bat that deep. You don’t need more boundaries but you need lesser dot balls. Get maximum doubles.
@robbieuthappa@NikUttam would love to see you discuss what the “right areas” are based on the bowler’s pace, areas to target as a batter, what kind of shots are effective against pace and spin for each length. Ground dimensions and breeze, effective field placement. #MLC2026
The reason chasing teams win in Pomona is not because “chasing gets easy”. That’s the trend but it’s not because of the conditions in the ground. The wicket is tacky and had a bit of tennis ball bounce yesterday. The wicket doesn’t considerably change but the chasing teams

Infrastructure is not the concern any more. Structure and visibility is what the domestic cricketers need. USA Domestic cricket -> Feed MLC -> Domestic players get exposure -> Stronger national squad.
Bring back senior and U23 domestic national championships. But don’t try and fit four 50 over games within a week. That’s not enough sample size to judge.
Create an association for each zone and fund them. Structured 50 over and 20 over leagues throughout the year in LA/GP/PV
People still don't grasp the enormity of what's unfolding. If world cricket was ever going to open up a second major power center, this is it, the inflection point.
🇺🇸 More youth cricketers than New Zealand
👀 Second-highest ICC event viewership after India
🏏 A 26-team domestic ecosystem underpinning the MLC with franchise resale values already touching $500,000 on goodwill alone
🏟️ The highest concentration of IPL franchise academies anywhere outside India
Great T20 WC campaigns but USA most definitely will have a transition problem. Most men in both the ODI and T20I starting XI are in their 30s and only have a few years left in them. Right now, it’s either mid 30s or U23s. Identify the next first XI players and give them exposure.
