Okay so I constantly see people on here say that having children made them realize gender roles are more innate than they initially believed. One example I saw one time was that someone's daughter nurtured her stuffed animals while his son used them as action figures. All I could think about is my little brother who would cradle his donald duck stuffed animal and refer to it as his baby and make it say "clack clack." And then there was this seven-year-old girl I babysat during covid who said to me unprompted, "You're thin. It's good for girls to be thin." (Why thank you, but where did you get that from?) And then another time I was skiing and overheard a girl say "Why is that boy wearing a bow? Bows are for girls." Both of those children couldn't have been older than five. I am not saying there are no differences in the aggregate, but I think that kids are surrounded by gendered messaging from a very young age and that makes it hard to separate out what is innate from what is socialized.

It is just a sexuality, like any other inherent trait.

Queer people can be racists, fascists, misogynists, sexists and terrorists. It is not a protective shield from the "isms".
