I think it’s on them
“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.”
2 Timothy 4:3-4 ESV
Abeg don't trigger me this morning... Many young people in my generation staked their lives, career and purpose on every word this dude said or wrote. Every time he said "God Said" or "The Holy Spirit told me", people literally took it as a decree from God.
To come back decades later and seek forgiveness for FAKE PROPHECIES is so so convenient.
Blessed is the soul that mourns over sin, but let it not build its dwelling there. God wounds the conscience that He might heal the heart. We were not called merely to weep over our corruption, but to delight in the glory of Christ and enjoy sweet communion with Him. Let repentance lead you to joy, for the end of godly sorrow is not despair, but deeper fellowship with God.
One of my greatest fears in life is that someone lost their way from God because of how I treated them, acted or spoke to them.
That people look up to you as someone who should reflect Christ and love to them is enough yardstick for you to behave well.
And the category of the folks that get excited when there is a “gist”.
You can feel the excitement from their tweets lol.
Meanwhile real people are involved and hurt.
Whew.
My advice to anyone starting out:
Develop a very strong opinion about yourself.
Know exactly who you are & who you are not.
If you don't, someone else will try to tell you who you are, and you might just start believing them.
