Tim Bontemps reacts to the overreaction to Wembanyama’s quote:
“This is where the internet is a stupid place.
He got asked, how is everybody feeling coming off of this loss and how the groups feeling about coming back in the series.
And he said: ‘Everybody thinks they’re going to come back and win the series.’
What would everybody like Victor Wembanyama to say?
‘We’re screwed? We’re going to lose tomorrow by 30? The series is over?’
Like what the hell are we talking about.”

I am baffled at the reaction to this quote.
He was asked if his teammates believe they can come back, and he said everyone believes they can do it.
What else is he supposed to say - they believe they are going to lose?
People are just looking for things to be mad about.
The sooner people accept he’s simply a massive human & is just going to naturally flail around the court while trying to play one of the most skillful, athletic games on the planet and that he’s NOT trying to hit people or be “dirty” the sooner we just enjoy his greatness 🙄😂
How can you watch this angle of the Victor Wembanyama contact with OG Anunoby and still go “Yeah! Wemby was trying to stomp out OG!”
OG isn’t moving.. Wemby is clearly avoiding direct contact.
Yeah it’s a missed call, a flagrant 1 and all that. But every Wemby incident from the Naz elbow, to the Dort shove, to this has been Wemby letting opponents know if you try to play him too physically you might get hit with the Shaolin fists of fury and I honestly gotta respect it
LeBron got swept by the Spurs in his first NBA Finals. Michael Jordan lost in the first round of his first 3 NBA Playoffs appearances. Wembanyama will be fine
Seattle got all its flowers in Russ’s retirement and farewell to football video. No other team or coach is mentioned by name. Only the Seahawks and Pete Carroll. It is clear how he feels about Seattle.
I hope that any lingering resentment from Seattle’s fan base is long gone. He is a Seahawks legend. Brought this city its first Super Bowl championship and an unprecedented run. Undisputed best QB ever to wear a Seahawks uniform. Without a doubt.
