We're reintroducing and open-sourcing project "See-through". Given a single anime illustration, it automatically decomposes the character into fully-inpainted semantic layers with depth ordering. One image in, layered PSD out. (1/n)

Years ago at PFN, I was deeply interested in automatic Live2D research and built the auto live2d system for IRIAM. When DeNA acquired them, I was completely blindsided and felt deceived—which was a huge reason I left to join Spellbrush as an early member. It’s amazing to see someone wanting to take over my old research and continuously explore this path. Congratulations, it’s a privilege to work with you guys!
This is our work! We are happy to announce that it has been conditionally accepted as a SIGGRAPH 2026 Conference Track paper. More details and source code will be released next week — stay tuned!

A year ago, I left DeepMind to chase a crazy dream with Spellbrush: to bring anime characters to life.
Last week, my colleague and I put our in-house AI models to the test. We made this short anime from scratch in 48 hours.
