@Irishrevanchist@AaronBastani China doesn't "also" LARP as a moral actor in font of the world. They just want to do business.
The USSR spent its days "USA capitalism bad evil wah wah, we must liberate the people" of course, in respone to the USA's pathetic propaganda.
1. It literally is the default; has been since 1931, a whole 61 years before the women's version was introduced.
2. There is no "rule" preventing women from participating in the "men" world cup.
They're just light years behind. A literal high school men's team can run circles around professional women's teams.
This is not speculative. It's happened many a time.
@robpizzola@artchad Brother, have you seen/lived/used transit in *comparable US cities (Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philly, Chicago, NYC etc.)
Most are dogshit compared to Toronto.
No one is comparing Toronto to Tokyo, Shanghai, or Europe.
@98198y@RTNToronto Of course, fair enough.
Hindsight is 20/20 but for world cup so fragmented across an entire continent (literally), this was bound to happen.
This is especially so when Canada is hosting ONLY 13 out of 104 games, split across two cities over 4000km apart.
@tzu_kanon@artchad I am not.
If you could read you'd notice I said "relative to most North America."
I did not compare it to Europe. (it's better there).
I am not going to pretend it wasn't better there than literally every other North American city I've been to.
That is objectively true.
@dirk_fasshauer Why is it..."sad"?
(Most) of the world wants to come to America.
I love how non-Americans love projecting their own feelings unto Americans (who by and large couldn't give a shit).
FYI, I agree, it is sad.
Sincerely,
An American user of WhatsApp
Agreed.
I'm in the US now, but make sure to visit ~4 times a year.
I guess I am (more) jaded; my reference point is pre-Covid. Pre historic mass-immigration of 2022-2024; many historic businesses and hotspots shut down etc.
It still kicks every US metropolis's ass in terms of urban convenience.
I can't think of any other city where it's as convenient to get around and arrive (almost) anywhere in the GTA, let alone downtown...including the two airports.
I really hope it truly recovers and surpasses its previous peak.
@Amila_KR@doc_clyde_md@JoshuaBarzon The overarching point here is that almost zero Americans care at all.
You can shit on their football/soccer for the next 50 yrs.
They won't get hurt. They don't care.
They have no emotional baggage nor real history that attaches them to the sport.
