The PhD project makes use of the excellent laboratory facilities in Manchester Centre for Nonlinear Dynamics (@manunimaths & @uomphysics). The project is also associated with a recent EPSRC New Investigator Award, which will involve a maths-based PDRA working on related problems.

Fluid dynamics close to home in Whaley Bridge: when I went to Toddbrook dam last Wednesday evening, flow down the converging spillway had formed an oblique hydraulic jump along the left side of the spillway...

@mdallaston I think th te EU paid for our flights. We went to Expo 2000, and sang the EU anthem (somewhere). The return trip was cancelled due to foot and mouth disease. This factoid is incredibly date specific!
