LOC is such a great resource -- it made researching fun last semester when I analyzed white-owned v. #Black-owned newspaper coverage of #TheRedSummer & #TulsaRaceMassacre for my domestic terrorism course.

Several Black-owned newspapers are represented in the Library's huge collection, from The North Star, founded by Frederick Douglass in 1847, to the @afronews, which celebrated @BarackObama's inauguration in 2009 with a commemorative magazine & trading cards! #BlackHistoryMonth

SE DC is almost entirely a food desert - wards 7 & 8 represent 75% of food deserts in DC. This is so exciting to see and so necessary to mitigate food insecurity in DC, especially for Black residents!
