Speech and Language Therapist supporting Adults with Learning Disability and MH in NHS Grampian📍Aberdeen 👩🏼🎓@UofGlasgow Language and Linguistics graduate
It was a real privilege to have been asked to present yesterday on life as an NQP in @NHSGrampian. It’s always great to be able to meet new #SLT’s and learn more about the positive impact we are making across Grampian with different client groups. Feeling very inspired! #mysltday
Speech and Language Therapy (#SLT) services in NHS Grampian were delighted to host their first ever SLT Intern Showcasing Day yesterday. 🧵⤵️

Delighted that @NHSGrampian were involved in sharing the impact of the pandemic on children’s speech, language and communication needs on STV news. It’s so important that we continue to raise awareness around the need for further funding for NHS Speech & Language Therapy services
🌟🌟 Bulletin column @SeanPert (@rcslt chair) re "short-sighted rationing, such as 6wk block".
"No researcher has suggested extremely low interventions are effective"
Calls for leaders to "make evidence-based treatment intensity a core pillar of your team's practice".
👏👏
Great news for Scotland! @scotgov have committed to invest in early intervention in speech and language. ‘Over the next three years we will invest in a new program of work to support early intervention in speech and language for children and their families.’ #collaboration@RCSLT

Younger children (age 4-5) learned sounds /r/ and /l/ as effectively as older children (age 7-8) suggesting that these traditionally-called "late-acquired" sounds can be considered as treatment targets regardless of a child's chronological age https://t.co/G5ya1JgjTf
After the toughest 2 years and studying during a pandemic, I finally graduated with a distinction in MSc Speech and Language Therapy yesterday. I cannot wait to see what the future holds and am so incredibly proud of all of us for finally getting here! @QMU_SLT#SLT#mySLTday

Working with peads is always such a joy 😍 Me: ‘it’s a special day today, do you know what day it is? I’ll give you a clue, it begins with a /p/ sound’ 5 year old: ‘hmm a /p/. Is it because you brought pop up pirate?’ 😂🙌🏻 #StPatricksDay#mysltday
Just heard that a wee boy I’m supporting requested to sing a song to his class today because he’s ‘much better at his sounds now’. This was a child who refused to speak in front of some family members 2 months ago as he was embarrassed. Days like this make it all worthwhile ☺️❤️
Me: “now, will you make sure you practice your ‘sn’ sound at home and do the jobs I’ve asked you to do with mum?” 5 y/o: “homework?! But I’m 5!! This better be worth at LEAST 2 stickers next week” 😂😱#mySLTday
