@LittlePythons I got a C+ in Organic Chem and I am now a Professor of Biology and Marine Biology. Your kid can do it! Success is not defined by one class
I anticipate recruiting two PhD students for Fall โ24 (or earlier) in the following areas:
1. Cyanobacterial blooms and their strain diversity and interactions with heterotrophic bacteria
2. Broad metagenomic data to track biodiversity in the #GreatLakes.
It's NSF GRFP season! Applications are due in October. Here is a link to a Google Sheet with essays from many successful applicants. #AcademicChatter https://t.co/fSirSTI2Vv
Finally, I have a functional aquarium system for research!! Anyone have corals they can spare?! Most interested in fast growing species (Acropora, Montipora) but will accept any! Please DM if you can help. Thanks!
@AndrewLRhyne Thanks! Yea, I know of many aquarists here, but I was hoping to get some specimens where some of the background info is known (known to be from different colonies, know the original collection location)
@LauraDMydlarz We went with a local vendor. Island Fish and Reef. They really did a great job but I'm not sure if they'll do anything outside of Long Island
