Relative color! Or color relativity? This one was a gamechanger for me because colors are all affected by each other, and that influences our perception of them. So in an orange lit room, the blue eyes would receive some of that orange hue, and turn this desaturated yellow/green.
https://t.co/2babNN54AO this video also gets more in-depth specifically for digital painting, Mike Azevedo is unmatched, his colors are so lush and pretty. In the video he explains how a red sphere, affected by blue light turns purple, at least in our perception.

Artists, what tip really blew your mind and unlocked a new dimension of improvement for you? It can be technical or more personal development oriented!
@Vesperis_Art You're welcome! Hope it helps, there's a really good video by Mike Azevedo too on how to apply this in digital painting with sliding around on your color wheel, it helped me a lot! https://t.co/2babNN54AO
@bauxi1990 Omg it is! I love to go back to it once a year and revise it, like a student, with colorful markers and post it notes. Bcos there's so much info in it, it's was impossible for me to take it all in on the first read
@stellaura__ Omg yes that's such a good exercise, I had a Light and Color class with schoolism once and one of the tasks was painting in a monochromatic scale, it's so hard but you learn so much! Who knew I'd learn more going outside my comfort zone ahh 🙈
@elhyanart Literally, she's so extra, you think you know her, but alas her elusive nature keeps you guessing every time 💃
Hope it helps ppl like it did me, there's actually so much theory involved in painting
If you want more I'd recommend James Gurneys book, Light and Color, that's the perfect book to learn from, it expanded me as an artist in ways that my shitty graphic design college couldn't even dream of.
@ziaroart Idk I might be wrong entirely, I personally didn't post any interesting new stuff, only old comms so not too puzzled about that, only seemed a bit less *large* than the last one. But that also might be because a bunch of artists left the platform too so idk 🤷♀️
@elhyanart wild and tiring times in general, this really is of no huge consequence if you don't live off your audience but sucks a lot for those who do. This with a*I can potentially bury commission artists whos primary income are comms, its evil
