Lars most likely owned the magazine too, but simply never paid attention to the title. During the conversation, once it became obvious that Metallica was actually a great band name, Lars hinted that “Metal Mania” sounded more appropriate for a fanzine.
During a break from rehearsals, Lars met up with Ron Quintana. They were discussing possible names for Ron’s fanzine, and Quintana had the name Metallica on his list, borrowed from the magazine Encyclopedia Metallica, which had been published in England in 1980.
@RonMcGovney@MagentickA Wow! Thanks for the reply! You know such exclusive information, I’m still waiting for your book. There are so many gaps in this story that you could clarify.
I’ve read all the books about Metallica, and none of them mention this. So James painted the guitar white himself?
