Yesterday was Doctor's Day in India.
Good time to think about how the job has actually changed since 2020. COVID was a shock to every healthcare system with doctors everywhere reporting high burnout.
But since then, India and the US have gone in opposite directions.
In the US, doctors saw a spike from 2020 to 2022, and most of it has normalized over the last few years. In India, burnout just kept climbing, enough that a lot of doctors now say they wouldn't want their own kids to go into medicine. (91% of physicians surveyed by Auro Foundation)
