All I can do is point to Trump's claims on the border being 100% closed (which I'm assuming are true) and his approval rating being at catastrophic levels. People get riled up over illegal immigrants but the average person never sees one so when it's fixed don't feel any value in the fix and Trump gets no boost in popularity.
