How I moved from being a fresh Unemployed Graduate to Working With Companies Serving 100M+ Users in the US without 0 experience and connection.
1. Accepted that nobody was coming to save me.
After university, I quickly realized that sending out a degree and hoping for the best wasn't enough.
2. Learned a marketable skill.
I focused on skills that businesses actually pay for and need regardless of industry even after studying mechanical engineering.
3. Got certified.
I used certifications to validate my knowledge and make myself more credible.
4. I started building in public and I avoided X.
I consistently posted on LinkedIn even when nobody was paying attention. 1 likes and I was liking my own post.
5. Applied for jobs aggressively.
I sent countless applications and got almost no response.
6. Realized something wasn't working.
After repeated rejections and zero interviews, I stopped relying solely on job applications.
7. Ignored the "remote job hacks" and useless job-board threads on x.
Most of the opportunities being shared either required work permits or weren't relevant to my situation.
8. Made LinkedIn my primary platform.
Instead of chasing job boards, I focused on people starting to send a DM.
9. Practiced social listening.
I paid attention to conversations, industry trends, hiring posts, and what professionals were discussing.
10. Networked relentlessly.
I connected with professionals, founders, recruiters, and people already doing what I wanted to do.
11. Surrounded myself with ambitious people.
I intentionally spent more time around people who were working, freelancing, building businesses, and creating opportunities.
12. Stayed curious.
13. Gave up on applying.
14. Built relationships before asking for opportunities. That was how I got access to a lady that worked in Ferrari I was just texting anyone lmao 🤣
I focused on genuine connections instead of immediately asking people for jobs.
15. Got referrals from people I barely knew.
The relationships I built online started opening doors that job boards never did.
16. Landed my breakthrough opportunity.
Within about a year, I went from unemployed and struggling financially to earning a seven-figure income despite having no prior professional experience.
17. I was able to survive because I lived with my parents and I was super broke.
18. Expanded into bigger projects and bigger brands. Got invited by jobberman and MasterCard along the way.
19. Started working with companies serving over 100 million users and fintech brands outside Nigeria.
20. I finally started on x after understanding LinkedIn. And gotten opportunities from here too.
Now I'm building a startup with my little experience.@Aikidotcom
Opportunities that once felt impossible became accessible because of the foundation built through skills, visibility, networking, and consistency.
Building from zero is hard. I mean, you only get one shot with whatever you’ve got. No inherited wealth, no family safety net, just your grind and random luck
Yesterday evening I was craving roasted cat fish
And so I sent my younger brother to go get some
As he brought it back and handed it to me, immediately i unwrapped the foil, i knew something was seriously awry
One thing about my nose, it works WELL.
I knew the fish was bad instantly. I’m not talking about “starting to want to go off” type of bad
I’m talking rotten fish with maggots in the head part type of bad.
When I checked the pepper sauce she packed too , that was also sour.
This fish was expensive. I got dressed and went with my brother back to the vendor.
As we got there and she sighted us, guilt was spelt across her face. I knew she knew. There was no way this woman did not know her fish and sauce were bad
To cut the long story short, the woman refused to give us a refund. Flat out refused
Said she didn’t know and that we should pick another one from her table. I told her I didn’t want any of her fish. I just wanted my money. She refused
I left it there and was going to walk away. But then I turned back, picked it up and threw it in the trash right in front of her
Because I knew she was going to heat it up and sell it to someone else.
I hate it break it to you, Nigeria is not working not because of our president
It is not working because of us
A lot of Nigerians are selfish. I patronized this woman, spent extra transportation and journeyed for over an hour and she could not bear the loss of something horrible she sold to me
Nigeria is bad because many Nigerians are bad
We care only about ourselves.
From the secretary that will rather give the spot to see “Oga” to the person who came hours after you that has been standing on the queue because they gave her “tiri fife” to the president we all stare at and point accusing fingers at
That’s why their kids will go to schools abroad when other people’s children are kidnapped and sleep in the bush for days and the country moves on like nothing is happening
Nobody cares
The rest of the world can burn as long as they are fine
So they keep stealing so they can throw society wedding for their daughter with the money that was supposed to build a hospital that would save millions
Politicians did not enter that office and become suddenly bad. They have always been bad. The office makes it more glaring
Nigeria will not work even if we elect a saint
It will only work if the woman selling fish down the road grows a conscience and does the right thing
It is well
Easy stuff
Step 1. Search for jobs in your niche. E.g product designer, product manager, data analyst and the likes
Step 2: Filter by location, remote or onsite (focus on the remote ones) and click on Job
Step 3: check each job. To do this, click the JD, check the name of the company (usually the first thing you see), and sometimes, LinkedIn includes the job poster. I mean the profile of the person that posted the job. Send a connection request to the person (could be your 2nd or 3rd degree connection)
Step 4: since that person works in the company, or automatically opens up your degree of connection. This is very important because LinkedIn works on network effect (it’s why you see something like “LinkedIn member” instead of names on some profile
- step 5: start connecting with decision makers at those companies after step 4. Make sure you connect with C-suites and leaders (CEOs, COOs, CMOs, head of product, CIO,, CSOs and the likes)
All the best

A time will come when Nigeria will no longer be known for corruption, terrorism and poverty. But for righteousness, prosperity and peace. In Jesus’ name.
I found a prayer in Ruth 3:18:
Lord, in matters concerning my life and destiny, let the men and women You have chosen and touched to help me not rest until it is settled for my good and in my favor. And may I learn to wait patiently for how You work it out. 🧡
A good time to make this spread and trend again…….
Let’s go !
Jesus just has to be who He says He is. No one gives this joy that He gives.
We celebrate our king, JESUS !
My NYSC Camp Series Day 18
It’s few hours to go home and I’m so gassed up. I’ve never been this excited to leave a place. Everyone have been ranting about how much they’ll miss camp except me 😂 maybe I’m the problem because this is not life in my own book. 😭…..
