I just had my first meet and greet ever, since its my first one I wasn’t expecting anyone to really come up to say hi. So when I heard “okay Xaela you have a one hour slot and there’s someone here to see you, he was very nervous” my heart skipped a beat. I thought, no way someone actually made their way to come see me.
And there he was, fidgeting. Hands in his pockets. Avoiding eye contact. He went “hi I am so nervous but I am here to say hi” or something along the lines of that. I wasn’t really listening to what he was saying I was more or less trying to identify if he was a viewer in my chat. I was listening closely to his voice. But the moment he spoke I KNEW WHO HE WAS. It was a long time viewer of mine. My face lit up. I ALMOST CRIED. I said to him, “hi thanks for coming to see me, I think I know who you are but I don’t wanna make any mistakes guessing”
He said, “nono guess, I want you to guess”
When I said his name his face lit up and he confirms it was him. He talked about how I was a main driving factor on why he was at momocon.
I was so happy I almost cried. Someone really took the effort to come down all the way to a convention just to say hi to me. He talked to me for a long time. There were two other people who came by to the meet and greet, they weren’t my viewers but they just wanted to say hi and get to know someone new. Which was very sweet of them. And then my session ended.
My heart felt so full, in that one hour three people actually came by. One of them was a long time viewer and a regular in chat. That made my day. I dont think I will ever forget this interaction. My first ever meet and greet.
I know we probably shouldn’t, but as streamers we get attached to some chatters especially in smaller communities
When an active viewer leaves, it’s hard not to feel a little hurt
But after years of streaming, I’ve learned that this is just part of it. People come and go, and you can’t chain anyone to your community.
as streamers, we also have to accept that not everyone is meant to stay forever. Sometimes people change, sometimes life gets busy, and some of them maybe weren't meant to be part of the journey long term
Why are you in a rush to get better at art?
Art is a lifetime journey, something you spend time on to have fun.
To me, art isnt a destination to grind towards.
Have fun, show your art some love, and I promise you'll have a great time.
@mei__satsuki@shinenee_art even if they didn’t copy—which it seems they at *least* took inspiration from yours bc there’s too many similarities — why would someone want to purchase a vtuber adopt that is just going to be mistaken for dif person? the artist should want to edit it so it looks more unique imo
