~ New Publication ~
We have just published our study in Social Science and Medicine. We explored whether English older adults transition to and from states of health optimism, health pessimism and health realism over time, using a Markov transition model.
Congratulations Bill on this latest publication! Really interesting analysis of how discrepancies between objective and subjective health (and health optimism vs. pessimism) change over time. @MU_Hamilton@MUpsychdept
* Health pessimists are likely to be lost to death/dropout. Therefore, health pessimism may represent prodromal poor health.
* The discrepancy between an older adult’s objective and subjective health status is clinically relevant and is predictive of various health sequelae.

our paper has been published in @JAMDAcom where we determine how discrepancies between subjective and objective health scores predict injurious fall risk in Swedish older adults

we conclude that interpreting subjective health appraisals alongside objective health scores in clinical settings is informative.
we found that health optimists had an increased risk of experiencing an injurious fall.
Really enjoyed last night’s poster session at the annual @societyforepi meeting in Austin, TX. Blocking my poster in this pic because I lack spatial awareness.
