OF COURSE we have the biggest “teacher shortage” in American history when there are little to no attempts at fixing major challenges educators face everyday.
The true ‘shortage’ is in attempting to inject the profession with respect and sustainability.
Teacher pay is insulting, but almost liveable. But you know what's disgustingly worse? Outdoor education pay. Every job I'm looking at is like $150/day or $300-450/week. AND this is for a canditate who is expected to have a bachelor's degree. 😠
Mental illness is a monster. If you are struggling, reach out for help. Don't be afraid to call the suicide hotline. Don't stop until you are safe. You are worth it.
Don't believe the lies depression tells you.
You are not alone.
We're out here humming:
"Oh, I'd be lying if I said this was fine
All the hurt and the hate going on here
We are rainbows, me and you
Every color, every hue
Let's shine on through
Together, we can start living in a Rainbowland"

Improve Tier 1 Mental Health Support!
Student-to-counselor ratios right now are 400:1 or worse. This has been normalized & is unacceptable. The resources are there & I’m calling on states to invest in reducing these ratios because counselors & students deserve better.
In the last 25 years, wages for college graduates have risen 28%. Wages for teachers during the same period, only 2%.
We’re calling on states and districts to increase teacher pay. It’s time our teachers saw the support and pay they deserve.
Livable wage = Respect.
