The 22-minute monologue that begins this show offers clear, compelling proof that Israel committed genocide in Gaza.
It's then followed by a harrowing interview with Dr. Maynard and the atrocities he saw in Gaza.
Anyone denying the value of this is either a fraud who doesn't believe what they say about the Israeli/US genocide, or is very dumb, or both.
@rwwarawraw60979@thejonacosta@JeffBezos HAHAHAHAHAHA you think they're securing one "for us" - if they ever even cared they'd try and make sure the one we're on already stays habitable
This has a clinical name. Revenge bedtime procrastination. And the ADHD version runs on a completely different mechanism than the neurotypical one.
A neurotypical person stays up late because they want more leisure time. The ADHD brain stays up because it spent every drop of dopamine it had on executive function during the day. Sitting in meetings, managing transitions, filtering impulses, remembering the thing you were supposed to remember. That burns through dopamine the way sprinting burns through glycogen. By 10pm the tank is empty.
But here's where it gets counterintuitive. The exhaustion is physical. The dopamine deficit is neurological. Those are two separate systems. Your muscles want sleep. Your prefrontal cortex is starving for the stimulation it was denied all day because it spent 14 hours on task-switching and impulse control instead of anything that actually felt rewarding.
The phone at midnight is the brain trying to collect what it's owed. Low-effort, high-stimulation content. Scrolling, short videos, rabbit holes. The exact profile of activity that delivers dopamine without requiring the executive function you already depleted.
The sleep researchers call this a "self-regulation failure." It's closer to a debt collection. You borrowed against your own reward system to function all day. The bill comes due at midnight. And the brain will not let you sleep until it gets paid.
I am sick and tired of people mocking those who care about the planet. Clean air matters. Living forests matter. Healthy oceans matter. Animals matter. Biodiversity matters. Wanting a livable world for future generations should not be controversial.
I don’t want a city on Mars. I don’t want AI in every app. I don’t want data centres in space. I don’t want humanoids or flying cars. I want clean water. I want a stable climate. I want bees to survive. And a habitable planet.
It bums me out that we have the resources to fix our society, stop our reliance on fossil fuels, guarantee healthcare, house the homeless, and feed every person in the country, but doing so would be a bad time for like, 8 dudes, so we can’t do it.
I cannot stand the crabs in a bucket mentality in the UK. Can you imagine how much people would progress if they worked together and encouraged each other instead of being miserable and hating?
@mil81074@AdamPugh go on then
what does a CEO do that justifies a £10m salary and also means floor workers do not deserve any meaningful wage increase
genuinely curious to see why CEOs earning ~£5000ph is more important to you than floor workers earning above minimum wage
@mil81074@AdamPugh good strawman argument
ofc the CEO is, I didn't doubt that once. But that value is only created by people keeping the system running, like distro & store staff
no floor workers, no shareholder value. well paid floor workers, more value.
keep licking the boot friend :)
one of my favourite types of post on here is someone pretending they are some kind of expert economist just to arrive at the conclusion that CEOs should earn 400x their lowest paid employees because that’s just how things are and apparently nothing can be done about it
@mil81074@AdamPugh hate to break it to you but it's not the CEO himself "running" distribution centres, stores and those links.
CEOs are usually responsible for strategic decisions but it's the managers and floor workers in each place keeping them "running"
but ofc protect the CEO by any means 🤷♂️
The most dangerous type of depression is the high-functioning kind, because absolutely nobody will save you if you still look good and show up to work.
Society only recognizes mental health struggles if your life is visibly falling apart. If you still dress well, pay your bills, and manage to smile when spoken to, people assume you are perfectly fine.
Meanwhile, you are completely empty inside. But because your suffering isn't inconveniencing anyone else's schedule, they don't care. They praise your "hustle" and "strength" while you are literally just surviving on pure autopilot.
The moment you finally crack, miss a deadline, or drop the ball, they don't offer grace or help. They just get angry that the reliable person they constantly use is suddenly "acting out of character."
You aren't a person to them; you are a utility. As long as you are producing results, they do not care if you are breaking down in private.
@matfieldaj@_Unknown_D_ not how it works buddy
when you were working you were paying for other people's state pension
now those currently working pay for yours
there is no pot titled "Anthony's Lovely State Pension", it is paid for by current working taxpayers
have a good day
